2025 International Pawn Symposium At long
Ladies and Gentlemen in Pawnland!
PCG’s Now Legendary Focus Groups finishes up our 2014 Calendar year and Fall Meeting in Dallas Texas with visits to two of our beloved members stores.
First up was the Uncle Dan’s Team with visits to 4 of their 6 stores along with operational critiques and feedback with their management teams and personnel. The Foster’s also hosted a traditional “Mexican Food Buffet” at Herrera’s in Dallas along with Mariachi Band and traditional Mexican Dancers. Was a beautiful cap to a wonderful day out visiting 4 of their beautiful stores.
The Uncle’ Dan’s team has been working very hard to host this illustrious group with members from as far away as Canada and Aruba as well as across the USA.
Store tours were superb, the stores were gleaming inside and out as were their teams and the feedbacks received during our sessions at the Ritz Carlton in Dallas Texas. The critiques were overall extremely positive, on behalf of PCG and our team’s, thank you so much Dan and Kim Foster – you two are shining examples of what it can be like in our industry today!

Next up we had P&J Pawn out of Dallas on the tour which was hosted by Patrick Wade. P&J Pawn and their building has had some distinguished history in Dallas as denoted on our store tour.
In the 50’s and 60’s the building was once a brothel that was owned and operated by none other the late Jack Ruby. As many of you may recall Ruby was the man brought to fame and conviction for killing Lee Harvey Oswald the man who allegedly shot JFK.
One of Patrick’s friends and associates, a gentleman by the name of Thomas Caughran gave a speech at Patrick’s store during our cocktail reception about his involvement with Ruby. At the time, Thomas was the head jailer at the Dallas PD jail center and was primarily the guard posted to Jack Ruby. He’ shared some historical references about Ruby’s involvement in the shooting of Oswald and illuminated more of the mystery surrounding one of the most significant moments in the history of the USA. The one comment he did make that we could all relate to is this “We will never know the true account of what happened in Dallas on that fateful day of JFK’s shooting”.
Adding to this charm, Patrick hosted a cocktail reception with a “Jack Ruby” look alike along with some of his working girls set in one of the actual rooms of the old brothel upstairs in the store. Was a truly great time had by all of the PCG attendees of this focus group.
Aside from that P&J Pawn was shining from top to bottom and presented itself like a well-run independent super store with a fabulous team operating the facility in top fashion and form.
The evening was topped off by a fabulous dinner at Campisis in Dallas Texas a once known mob hang out and was believed to be the last dinner spot of Jack Ruby before his historic activities in Dallas Texas. Patrick delivered up a murder mystery show to boot and wooed our attendees with yet another top flight production from his staff and store. Was a great ending to a wonderful groups meeting in Dallas Texas all n’ all!

PCG’s Focus Groups continue to transform the lives of its members and the industry. On a personal level when one of our Peer Members, Mr. Bradley Blaylock commented to me about how heartwarming it must be to witness the changes our members are instigating because of our work, skills and knowledge along with the feedback our members present, yes it does warm the heart!
This group and its membership collectively represents over 300+ years of experience, what an opportunity to share in the collective skills and knowledge up close and up front!
PCG Focus Groups will be moving on to Aruba to visit Boris Cybul’s operation “La Estrella” for the spring meeting next year followed by Greg Twarowski’s group – America’s Super Pawn located in the Bradenton / Sarasota areas for the fall meetings in 2015.
Stay tuned PCG will be announcing the line up our 2015 activities which includes an exciting new trade-show format this coming year with a specific focus on “Technology” and what you need to know about it to take your business to the next level and beyond. We will also be opening up our event to many new candidates and vendors including the public for more exciting trends and changes already happening for our beloved industry!
Much more info to follow and what a wonderful year we have had thus far!
