Dixie 2026: A Standout Success for Pawnshop Consulting Group and the Southeast Pawn Community

Dixie Pawnbrokers Conference 2026 recap from Pawnshop Consulting Group
Pawnshop Consulting Group celebrates a successful Dixie 2026 in Orange Beach, Alabama, where Jerry Whitehead presented “What It Takes to Be the Best of the Best” to more than 200 pawn professionals.

The Dixie Pawnbrokers Conference 2026 is officially in the books, and from the perspective of Pawnshop Consulting Group, LLC, it was an outstanding event. The 2026 Dixie Educational Conference & Trade Show brought together a tremendous group of pawn professionals for education, networking, industry resources and good old-fashioned pawn camaraderie.

Held September 7–9 at Perdido Beach Resort in Orange Beach, Alabama, Dixie once again brought together pawn professionals from throughout the Southeast and beyond for three days of education, networking, industry resources and good old-fashioned pawn camaraderie.

Pawnshop Consulting Group has participated in Dixie events for close to two decades, and this year’s conference reminded us exactly why we continue to come back.

Dixie Pawnbrokers Conference 2026: A Regional Show Done Right

From the organization and venue to attendance, education and activity on the trade show floor, Dixie 2026 delivered.

There is something different about this group. The Southeast pawn community brings together experienced operators, independent entrepreneurs, multi-store companies, vendors and industry leaders in an atmosphere that encourages people to actually talk to one another, exchange ideas and build relationships.

That’s what an industry conference is supposed to accomplish.

And this year, it worked exceptionally well.

The venue was excellent. Attendance was strong. The trade show floor stayed active. Most importantly, people were engaged.

For Pawnshop Consulting Group, that engagement translated directly into new relationships, meaningful conversations and new business opportunities.

More Than 200 Pawn Professionals Join PCG for “The Best of the Best”

One of the highlights of Dixie 2026 for Pawnshop Consulting Group was the opportunity to lead Tuesday morning’s breakfast educational program.

Jerry Whitehead, Founder & Senior Strategic Advisor of Pawnshop Consulting Group, presented:

“What It Takes to Be the Best of the Best in Pawn”

The 90-minute presentation was attended by more than 200 pawn professionals and focused on a fundamental question that every pawn operator should periodically ask:

What does your customer actually see, feel and experience when they do business with you?

The session went well beyond financial metrics. We examined the characteristics that separate exceptional modern pawn operations from ordinary ones—from the parking lot and front door to store appearance, employee engagement, customer service, accountability, compensation, digital presence and reputation.

The central message was straightforward:

Being among the Best of the Best requires more than producing good numbers.

It requires creating an organization in which exceptional customer service, operational discipline, accountability and continuous improvement become part of the culture.

What Does It Take to Be the Best of the Best?

During the presentation, PCG challenged attendees to look at their pawnshops through the eyes of the customer and examine the areas that increasingly separate world-class pawn operations from the competition.

The discussion centered around five critical areas:

These aren’t simply theories developed in a boardroom. They are principles PCG continues to see demonstrated by successful pawn operations throughout the United States and around the world.

The pawn industry has changed dramatically, and customer expectations have changed with it. The operators who recognize those changes—and build their businesses accordingly—will be in the strongest position to compete, grow and prosper.

The Conversation Didn’t End When the Presentation Did

Perhaps the strongest measure of the presentation’s impact came after the session ended.

Throughout the remainder of the Dixie trade show, pawn operators continued coming by the Pawnshop Consulting Group booth to discuss what they had heard, ask questions about their own businesses and request copies of the presentation.

Those conversations covered virtually every area of today’s pawn operation—from customer service, financial performance and inventory management to management development, valuations, acquisitions, succession planning and business growth.

For Pawnshop Consulting Group, Dixie 2026 generated more meaningful business activity than we have experienced at any regional pawn conference in recent history.

We established new relationships, reconnected with longtime clients and friends, and opened a number of substantive conversations that have continued well beyond Orange Beach.

That made Dixie 2026 more than simply an enjoyable conference for PCG.

It made it an extremely productive one.

Why PCG Keeps Coming Back to Dixie

Pawnshop Consulting Group has been participating in Dixie events for close to 20 years, and there is a reason we continue to come back.

This is simply one of the great regional pawn gatherings in the country.

The Southeast pawn community is entrepreneurial, experienced and fiercely independent. Just as importantly, this is a group that knows how to enjoy being together.

There is an openness and camaraderie at Dixie that makes it easy to exchange ideas, talk candidly about business, renew old friendships and establish new ones.

For PCG, those relationships matter.

Technology has changed our industry. Customers have changed. Marketing has changed. The way we evaluate data, manage inventory, communicate with customers and operate our businesses continues to evolve.

But one thing hasn’t changed:

Relationships still matter in the pawn industry.

Events such as Dixie give us the opportunity to sit across the table from one another, exchange ideas, challenge conventional thinking and develop relationships that simply aren’t created through an email, text message or social media post.

That remains enormously valuable to our industry—and it is one of the primary reasons PCG continues to support regional pawn associations and conferences throughout the country.

Congratulations to the Dixie Team

Producing a successful industry conference takes an enormous amount of work long before the first attendee ever walks through the door, and the people behind Dixie deserve special recognition.

Pawnshop Consulting Group extends a heartfelt thank-you to Tim Collier and Rosemary Hipps for the tremendous amount of time, energy and commitment they have invested in producing Dixie and helping make it one of the pawn industry’s premier regional events. Their efforts over the years have created an environment where pawnbrokers can learn, build relationships, exchange ideas and simply enjoy being together as an industry.

We also want to recognize Nick Fulton, who is stepping into a leadership role as one of Dixie’s event producers going forward, along with Ken KC Conn, one of the event producers and the new President of the Mississippi Pawnbrokers Association.

Putting an event of this size together is never easy. It takes months of planning, coordination, communication and behind-the-scenes work that most attendees never see.

To Tim, Rosemary, Nick, K.C., the participating state associations, volunteers, sponsors, exhibitors and everyone else who helped make Dixie 2026 such a success: thank you.

Your hard work matters, and it benefits far more than those who attended one conference. It strengthens the relationships, education and sense of community that continue to move the pawn industry forward.

From all of us at Pawnshop Consulting Group—congratulations on an outstanding Dixie 2026, and thank you for everything you do for our industry.

We’ll Be Back

After nearly two decades of participating in Dixie, one thing remains certain:

Pawnshop Consulting Group will be back.

We love this group. We love the energy. We love the Southeast pawn community.

And Dixie continues to demonstrate why a well-produced regional conference can be one of the most valuable investments a pawn professional makes in their business.

To the more than 200 pawn professionals who joined us Tuesday morning for “What It Takes to Be the Best of the Best,” thank you.

To everyone who stopped by the PCG booth, introduced themselves, reconnected with us, asked questions, requested the presentation or simply stopped to talk pawn—thank you as well.

You helped make Dixie 2026 one of the most successful regional conferences Pawnshop Consulting Group has experienced in recent history.

We look forward to seeing everyone again at Dixie 2027.

Missed “The Best of the Best”?

If you were with us in Orange Beach, we hope you walked away from the session with at least a few ideas you can take back to your store and put to work.

And if you weren’t able to join us Tuesday morning, we’d still like to share some of the thinking behind the presentation.

We’ve put together an overview of “What It Takes to Be the Best of the Best” on the Pawnshop Consulting Group website, covering many of the customer experience, service culture, accountability and operational principles we discussed at Dixie.

Take a look, share it with your team and use whatever ideas make sense for your operation.

That’s one of the things we’ve always enjoyed most about this industry—pawnbrokers learning from other pawnbrokers and continuing to make the industry stronger together.
